In
fulfilling its role, the Recreation and Culture Board will undertake to:
1. Increase the public
profile of Recreation Board in the community.
The Board members should
meet with the community to increase their public profile. This is an
important step that will help the Board achieve its other goals as
further defined by Council. 2. Improve relationships
and communication with user groups and service clubs. ·
The Board should strengthen
its relationship with the user groups and service clubs. Success will be
achieved by regular and active meetings with various groups. 3. Identify the type and
need of cultural programming desired by residents. ·
The Board must determine
what is the present and future cultural needs of the community and how
the Town can meet those needs effectively and efficiently. 4. Examine how other
communities and private enterprise are marketing their
recreational/cultural facilities and services. ·
Board will gather
information from various public and private enterprise sources regarding
the marketing of all recreation and cultural facilities. Marketing of
leisure services requires new ideas and the Board can play a vital role. 5. Establish a strong
volunteer pool for various projects and service delivery of programs. · Volunteer support is
necessary in today’s society to delivery a wide variety of services.
This will require a great deal of time and support from the Board to
recruit, maintain, and provide direction to volunteers.
6. Examine potential for
privatization of services and facilities · The question of future service delivery to the community via privatization should be examined. What can be privatized and how it would impact the community? This is a prime area of focus and discussion that requires an objective evaluation. 7. Review recreation and
culture service policies on an ongoing basis ·
Continue to provide annual review of existing policies and make
recommendations to Council. · Recommend amendments to the
Recreation Master Plan. 8. Implement assigned
policies ·
Continue to provide review
and selection for initiatives such as Volunteer of the Month, and Athlete
of the Year. 9. Review the annual
Financial Plan and Budget ·
Provide review and comment
on major budget items. Recommendations on future budget expenditures,
priorities and direction will be expressed through the proposed
amendments to the Recreation Master Plan. Time
lines for completion of new projects will be established by Council and
the Board. |
