Sports Field Maintenance Policy                                     POLICY 75/711.01.00

Ball Diamonds

1. Basic regular maintenance of the ball diamonds will include:

a.    Cutting grass to maintain 1 1/2 - 2 " maximum depth
b.    Aerating fields spring and fall.
c.    Picking up grass clippings a minimum of every 3rd cut.
d.    Spraying fields for weed control

2.  On a daily basis maintenance will include:

a.    Dragging shale infields
b.    Checking that pitching plates are secure.
c.    Checking that home plates are secure.
d.    Checking batters boxes for holes and pack area.
e.    Checking pitching mound for holes and pack area.
f.    Checking backstops and fences are secure.
g.    Cleaning areas of garbage.

3.  On a weekly basis maintenance will include:

a.    Checking bleachers and repairing as necessary.
b.    Checking outfield fence.
c.    Checking score clock.
d.    Checking warning track.
e.    Check infields and outfields for holes, depressions, rocks

Soccer Pitches

1.  Basic regular maintenance of the soccer pitches will include:

a.    Putting up snow fence to separate fields in the spring.
b.    Aerating fields spring and fall.
c.    Fertilizing fields 2 times per season.
d.    Cutting grass to maintain 1 1/2 - 2 " maximum depth.
e.    Picking up grass every 3rd cut.
f.    Spraying for weed control.

2.  On a weekly basis maintenance will include:

a.    Checking bleachers and repairing as necessary
b.    Check net frames
c.    Check fields for holes, depressions, rocks

Other

1.  Garbage will be collected on a regular basis as per the maintenance plan.
2.  Portable toilets will be cleaned daily Monday through Friday.
