Water Purchase and Waste Water Disposal Rates
Charged to Customers and Consumers

 

PURSUANT TO SECTION 63 OF Bylaw 70, the following rates shall apply for the supply of water and sewer services to customers and consumers of the Town's Water and Sewer Utility System.
 

1.  WATER SERVICES
   
1.1  RESIDENTIAL SERVICES
  1. For the purposes of this section "residential service" shall mean any detached dwelling, semi-detached dwelling, mobile home, apartment, or row house.
  1. Residential Services shall be charged as follows:
  1. Monthly service charge: $17.42 plus
  2. $1.50 per cubic metre of water consumed each month
  1. Where previous consumption for a particular customer is not available the Town shall estimate what would be anticipated to be the average consumption for the customer having regard to dwelling, family and other characteristics.

 

  1.2  ALL NON-RESIDENTIAL SERVICES except those identified below:
  1. Monthly service charge: $17.42 plus
  1. Consumption charge: $1.50 per cubic metre of water consumed per month, plus

 

1.3  HYDRANTS AND SPRINKLER SYSTEMS:

Where a premises has a private hydrant or a sprinkler system for fire protection purposes there shall be levied a charge of $36.75 per month for each appurtenance.

 

1.4  BULK DISPENSER
  1. Coin Operated Bulk Dispenser: $3.15 per cubic metre

 

1.5  UN-METERED RATES FOR BUILDING CONSTRUCTION
  1. Monthly Service Charge: $37.28
2.  WASTE WATER SERVICES

 

  1. Where a property receives both water and waste water services the waste water charge shall be set at 40% of the water charges levied under section 1.1b)i, 1.1b)ii, 1.2, 1.5 above
  1. 1.  Notwithstanding clause a) above, where the majority of water supplied under this bylaw is used as an ingredient in the commercial production of beverages and liquid food products, the waste water charge shall be set at 17% of the water charges levied under section 1.1b)i, 1.1b)ii
  1. 2.  Notwithstanding clause a. above, where the volume of effluent returned to the waste water system is less than 80% of the water purchased in a billing period, the waste water charge levied under clause a. shall be calculated using the formula

    where:

    "a" is the actual measured volume of waste water effluent

    "w" is volume of water consumed

    "%" is the percentage of water charges set out in clause 2.a   (b70.21, August 2002)
  1. 3.  The actual measured volume of effluent under clause b.2. shall be determined by the use of a meter, or such other means, the quality and installation of which, will provide a degree of accuracy acceptable to the Chief Administrative Officer.  Any metering or measuring arrangements shall be installed at the cost of the customer.   (b70.21, August 2002)
  1. Where a premises receives only waste water services from the Town Sewer system the following rates shall apply:
  1. $56.60 per month for any premises that would characteristically use up to 85 cubic metres per month if it was connected to the Town Water System.
  1. 40% of the monthly water charges that would characteristically apply if the premises were to use a volume greater than 85 cubic metres per month if it were connected to the Town Water System.
  1. Lacombe Research Station as per agreement with the Town dated July 4, 1954 and amended most recently on November 24, 1980.
