RECRUITING

Josh Engel at the wheel!
Lacombe Fire Department is always looking for new members. Being a volunteer is time consuming and challenging but in the end, extremely rewarding. For frequently asked questions please refer to our Recruiting Brochure (.PDF format) which may be picked up at the Town Office. Interested persons are required to attend three training nights before their applications will be accepted for consideration. If accepted, the applicant must provide medical certification that they are fit to undergo arduous physical activity before commencing any training. The recruit will complete an orientation program before achieving probationary status. The probationary term will normally be a minimum of six months after completion of the orientation program during which the recruit’s progress will be closely monitored and feedback on performance provided. After completing this program and the six month probationary period, the recruit will be retained, have their probation extended or be let go.
The department also accepts work experience students. There are strict requirements for acceptance into the department's program.
STATION TOURS

Fire Hall tours are an integral part of the Department’s Fire Prevention Program. The Lacombe Fire Department instructed and provided tours for over 1000 students last year. Any group wishing a tour should contact the Fire Department at 782-1230 or e-mail vwilcox@town.lacombe.ab.ca to make arrangements.
