While there is clearly motivation for traffic to cross Highway 2 at this location (particularly during the summer months), the volume of traffic doing so today is limited even when consideration is made of seasonal variations in traffic volumes. Forecasts to the 20,000 population confirm that while connectivity at this location would be desirable, this intersection is not vital to the integrity of the Town road network. In the long term if and when the Town should annex lands west and north of Highway 2, there may be a demand for increased crossing capabilities at the intersection. This is discussed in more detail as part of the long term recommendations.
