The
Town of Lacombe has a concern that the lighting levels called for in Road and
Transportation Association of Canada (RTAC) guidelines are in excess of what is
desired. This results in brighter than desired streets and, of course, extra
costs in energy and facilities to support these levels. The Town has allowed
deviation from RTAC, but not to any particular guideline and would like to be
able to declare a guideline for all future streetlight designs outside the
jurisdiction of Alberta Transportation.
