Bunt & Associates has completed the analysis outlined in the scope of work and has developed the following conclusions regarding truck traffic traveling through the Town of Lacombe:
· During the nine hour study period, a total of 149 trucks were observed to travel through the Town.
· Of the 149 trucks that traveled through the Town, 120 passed through the Town without stopping (within 15 minutes), of which 20% were gravel trucks.
· Extrapolating the nine hour observations to an estimate for daily (24 hour) volumes resulted in an estimate of approximately 200 trucks per day passing through the Town on Highway 12 without stopping within the Town. If it were to be assumed that the data set missed 20% of the matches due to incomplete data sets, then the figure would be approximately 250 trucks per day.
As the estimated through volume of truck traffic that could potentially be diverted use the south bypass is less than approximately 200 to 250 vehicles per day, it is very difficult to rationalize the construction of a south by-pass if the primary purpose was to accommodate through trucks.
