The
Need
 |
Lacombe has outgrown the
50-year-old Lacombe Memorial Centre (LMC), which has long surpassed
its initial life expectancy. |
 |
Many cultural, social,
community and business events are held each year attracting on average
30,000 users to the LMC. |
 |
Over the last two years
Lacombe has experienced 6% population growth, and it is anticipated to
maintain an average growth rate of 5% over the next several years. |
 |
The community facility
represents a core service and delivers on the Town's vision for
future growth and development of the local economy. |
The
Plan
 |
The
plan is to build a new
Regional Centennial Centre that will serve the Town of Lacombe and
the surrounding rural communities in Lacombe County; encompassing a total population of
approximately 16,000 residents. |
 |
The new facility will be
three times larger than the existing Memorial Centre, and will feature
a
variety of meeting room options in addition to a main hall. |
 |
A
key component of the new Lacombe Regional Centennial Centre will
include the Lacombe Public Library. |
 |
The
Library alone will be twice as large as the current library, ensuring
that it can accommodate the the recommended number of books and collections
for a community of our size, both today and well into the future. |
 |
The offices for Family &
Community Support Services will be located above the library on the second floor of the
facility. |
Filled with daily activity, the
new Lacombe Regional Centennial Centre will become the heartbeat of our community and a true "place for people." |
